The other day we were on the on ramp to the freeway, and on the side of the road there were some really tall, dry weeds that had gone to seed at the top. Taylor turned to Nathan and said, "Look, Nathan! Whole grain wheat!"
I guess he's noticed the whole grain symbols on the General Mills cereal boxes...

Well, she asked me first!
The other day we were at the pharmacy waiting in line to get a prescription filled, and a nice elderly woman was waiting behind us. She was making Alex giggle, and she asked me how old Alex was. Then she asked Nathan, who was only too happy to tell her that he was almost 5. Then he did something he's never done before. He looked at her and asked, "How old are you?" Luckily, she just laughed and said, "Oh, I'm a Grandma!"

I Didn't Do Anything!...Nope, Not a Thing!...Honest!
Matt noticed a spider in the kids' bathrooom last night just as Taylor was going to bed. He pointed at it and asked, "Hey, Taylor, what is that?" Taylor answered a little too quickly, "I don't know; I didn't do it!" Hmmmm.... Is there something he doesn't want us to know about?

Mini Corndogs
Ah, those homophones--they can sure be confusing to a kid. Nathan had mini corndogs for lunch the other day, which is one of his favorites. He ate a lot of them, and then asked for me to make more. I told him he'd had enough for one day. Pointing to the package, he said, "But, Mom! Look! It says, 'Mini Corndogs!' You're supposed to have MANY!"

When in Rome...

Taylor was looking in the maps secion of my Bible this evening, and found the map of Paul's missionary journeys. After studying it for a few minutes, he piped up, "Mom, look... Paul went to Rome." I replied, "Yes, that's one of the places Daddy and Mommy are going to visit." He then exclaimed, "Maybe you'll see Paul there!" He was disappointed when I explained that Paul had died a long time ago.

King Jacob
Last night we went to Jacob's grave for Family Home Evening and had a lesson on the Plan of Salvation. We talked about the 3 kingdoms of heaven and said that Jacob has earned the Celestial Kindgom because he died before the age of accountability. Taylor's eyes got really big and he said, "Wow! Is he a king now?!!!" When we started to chuckle, he said, "Well, you said it was a KINGdom!"

Mushy Love Stuff
I gave Matt a quick peck on the lips this evening. Taylor was standing near us and immediately exclaimed, "Ewwwww!" I asked him, "Isn't it good to know Mommy and Daddy love each other?" His response: "No, because you kissed."
